Stepping Off the Roller Coaster

Support for parents of teens with mental health issues.

This introductory 8-week coaching group is for parents of adolescents with mental health issues who feel like they are on an emotional roller coaster and want to learn how to create peace at home and best help their teen.

The Group:

Together we will explore:

  • How to come to terms with who your teen is, their diagnosis, and your current situation.
  • Why you feel like you are on an emotional roller coaster and what to do about it.
  • How to stop reacting in the moment and see what other choices you have instead.
  • How to create a healthy structure that will support your teen’s emotional wellness and path to independence and your peace of mind.
  • Where you can have the most impact as a parent.

Live Coaching Sessions

There will be EIGHT (8) live group coaching sessions on Sundays at 3pm ET. The coaching will be open to all parenting topics.  All sessions will be recorded and made available.

When you become a member, you join with other parents who “get it” and support each other while learning together.  You will also gain ongoing access to my private Facebook group. This is a supportive, judgment-free community of parents with similar struggles as you.

Video Library

Parents will have access to a library of educational videos created to address common parenting issues.

Live Q&A

Two virtual Q&A sessions will be hosted by me to answer questions on parenting topics, the program, or general coaching techniques.

April 11 – June 6, 2021

The group will meet for live coaching on Sundays at 3 pm ET via Zoom. We will not have a session on Sunday, May 30th.

If you are ready to look at things from a new perspective, you have the power to start turning things around RIGHT NOW! This isn’t about doing the next thing to ‘fix’ your kid. Instead, it is about empowering you as a parent.

We have gained so much from your coaching and the group experience. I want to thank you for your help because it really has made a world of difference. We know that there will always be bumps in the road but feel we now have the tools to navigate in a more constructive manner. If you are a parent of a teen who is struggling with anxiety/depression, this parent coaching group is extremely valuable in giving you the tools and mindset to help your teen. After participating in Dr. Young's parent coaching group, I am able to show up as a more compassionate parent while at the same time maintaining boundaries and rules. I also highly recommend the parent coaching for spouses too; it is a great way to get both parents on the same page and improve communication with their teen.

"As parents of a young adult who suffers from both anxiety and depression, my husband and I sometimes find ourselves at a loss for how best to work with our daughter and provide her with the support that she needs. When we saw that Dr. Young was establishing a coaching group for parents, we were a bit hesitant as it’s never easy to share personal, occasionally painful, experiences with people who you don’t know. Nonetheless, we decided to give it a try. It really was a great experience! Dr. Young provides clear, easy to follow suggestions on how to approach challenges while facilitating discussions and providing validation. We would definitely recommend this parents’ coaching group as it gave my husband and me a new perspective, insight into the fact that our issues were not unique and lots of support from some very loving families."
