We have gained so much from your coaching and the group experience. I want to thank you for your help because it really has made a world of difference. We know that there will always be bumps in the road but feel we now have the tools to navigate in a more constructive manner. If you are a parent of a teen who is struggling with anxiety/depression, this parent coaching group is extremely valuable in giving you the tools and mindset to help your teen. After participating in Dr. Young's parent coaching group, I am able to show up as a more compassionate parent while at the same time maintaining boundaries and rules. I also highly recommend the parent coaching for spouses too; it is a great way to get both parents on the same page and improve communication with their teen.

"As parents of a young adult who suffers from both anxiety and depression, my husband and I sometimes find ourselves at a loss for how best to work with our daughter and provide her with the support that she needs. When we saw that Dr. Young was establishing a coaching group for parents, we were a bit hesitant as it’s never easy to share personal, occasionally painful, experiences with people who you don’t know. Nonetheless, we decided to give it a try. It really was a great experience! Dr. Young provides clear, easy to follow suggestions on how to approach challenges while facilitating discussions and providing validation. We would definitely recommend this parents’ coaching group as it gave my husband and me a new perspective, insight into the fact that our issues were not unique and lots of support from some very loving families."

"When Dr. Young invited me to join her parent coaching group, I was skeptical and hesitant, especially as I was feeling a bit “over-therapied”. Even after the first few sessions, I was on the fence about continuing as my family circumstances seemed different from the other parents. Once I removed the lens of trying to compare situations and instead focus on the feelings, thoughts and actions that the other parents shared, something clicked. I find that the sessions are valuable, not for figuring out what to do about my child, but for figuring out what I need to do. The open exchange of experiences is often comforting and allows me to see that I have choices. Choices I need to make about how to feel, how to respond and how to nurture myself. Through the sessions, I have increasingly felt better able to take on the important next step of acceptance of my child’s mental health difficulties and what that means for life's journey."
